UPDATE ON THE WATER DISRUPTION CAUSED BY A PUMP FAILURE AT NOOITGEDAGT WATER TREATMENT WORKS
The City wishes to inform residents that due to the disruption at Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works, the pressure to the offtake point to Kariega is low, resulting in intermittent supply.
Once the repairs are complete, we anticipate that restoring the water will take the majority of the weekend.
We implore all residents to please reduce their consumption so that water does not run out in higher-lying areas.

WATER SUPPLY SHUTDOWN REQUIRED FOR CRITICAL MAINTENANCE
A water supply shutdown is required to carry out critical maintenance in Jachtvlakte Extension. This shutdown will assist with the reduction of water losses within the Metropolitan area.
This shutdown is scheduled for December 3, 2021. Residents in this area will experience disruptions in water supply from 08:00 AM on Friday, December 3, 2021 until Saturday evening, December 4, 2021.
It is envisaged that water supply will be restored by Sunday morning, December 5, 2021.
Water tankers will be deployed and their positions will be advertised on the NMBM website and social media pages and can be enquired about by calling the Service Delivery Call Centre on 0800 20 5050.

WATER SUPPLY SHUTDOWN REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT CRITICAL DROUGHT RELIEF WORK
Residents are hereby notified that the City requires a 48-hour shutdown of the Chelsea reservoir in order to perform critical drought relief work.
The shutdown, scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, 2021, will allow the NMBM maintenance team to connect the suction pipeline for the new KwaNobuhle pumpstation to the 750mm pipeline of the Chelsea reservoir.
This shutdown will also allow the Municipality to complete other critical tasks that may aid in the relief of the drought in the KwaNobuhle area.
To safely complete the aforementioned work, the Chelsea reservoir must be emptied.
While we have made every effort to ensure that water is maintained in the majority of areas, we anticipate that some areas may experience water outages during this time.
Water pressure may be low or non-existent in the following areas:

UPDATE ON WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS EXPERIENCED IN PARTS OF THE CITY DUE TO ELECTRICAL OUTAGE
Power supply has been restored at Motherwell pumpstation however, reservoirs will take some time to build storage. Chelsea reservoir is currently at 25 percent.
We urge residents to use water for essential purposes only so reservoirs may fill up.

DUE TO ELECTRICAL OUTAGES, WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS MAY BE EXPERIENCED IN PARTS OF THE CITY

The Municipality wishes to inform residents that the Motherwell pumpstation has experienced an electrical outage. This has hampered the East / West water supply transfer.
The Electricity and Energy department is aware of the outage and is investigating it.
Should the Chelsea reservoir run dry, we anticipate that there could be water shortages.
The reservoir is currently at 36% capacity and residents are being urged to use water only for essential purposes to avoid water supply disruptions.
Among the areas that may experience low pressure or a lack of water supply are the following:

THE ACCOUNTS CALL CENTRE, THE ELECTRICITY CALL CENTRE AND ALL OTHER CUSTOMER CARE CENTRES ARE NOW OPEN

Residents can now report electrical faults and account queries by dialing the above-mentioned phone numbers.

The Walmer No1 22kV Oil Circuit Breaker at Kragga Kamma substation tripped, affecting Greenshields Park, Charlo, Walmer, Overbaakens and surrounding areas.
Staff are attending to restoration of supply, no timeframe available.

Summit 66kV Oil Circuit Breaker tripped at Ditchling substation, affecting Fitchets Corner, Van Stadens, Thornhill, Summit, Gamtoos, Blue Horizon Bay, Rocklands, Greenbushes, Gedulsdrivier, Witteklip, Boxes and Shooks, Savannah, Vaalkrans, Nocton Farms, Gamtoos Hotel, Gamtoos Pumps, Loerie Pumps, and Van Staden

NMBM MANAGES WATER PRESSURE TO REDUCE CONSUMPTION
The Municipality will continue reducing pressure across Nelson Mandela Bay, to ensure that taps do not run dry before Christmas.
Our water consumption remains high, and the combined level of storage in the local dams supplying the City are below 13%. No significant rain is predicted in the near future. Should any of the local dam systems run dry, much of the city will have dry taps. We are working at avoiding dry taps at all costs.
Earlier this year the City embarked on a City-wide pressure reduction programme to reduce water demand. By reducing pressure, consumers naturally use less water, and the impact of leaks and losses are reduced. Pressure management thus helps to reduce overall demand. Should water consumption in pressure-managed areas remain high, some residents will experience intermittent supply on a daily basis. But if everyone reduces consumption to 50 litres per person per day, then everyone will have water.
Residents can expect water pressure to be lower, however, they will still have sufficient water supply for basic needs.
There is no time to waste as dam levels continue to decrease. We urge all residents to work hand in glove with the City by keeping their daily consumption to 50 litres per person per day.
